With the evolution of technology traditional cutting processes have been revolutionised by the introduction of Water!
Whilst still offering traditional cutting services, typically guillotining and
cold sawing, TFL can now offer a waterjet cutting service covering a whole new
range of materials and applications.
Waterjet cutting provides an important breakthrough in traditional fabrication methods for numerous industries. It offers significant advantages over competing cutting methods such as routing, plasma torch, laser cutting and electrical discharge machining (EDM). Fabricators are limited only by their imagination and contours. The accurate cutting of intricate shapes, such as inside corners, notches and even architectural and artistic shapes present no problems, and all this as well as being accurately repeatable.
Environmentally Friendly Technology
The process of waterjet cutting is totally environmentally friendly. The process does not involve the use of any chemicals; neither does it generate any fumes.
The abrasive waterjet system uses filtered pure water mixed with an inert garnet
abrasive to cut materials.
Waterjet : How it works
A waterjet machine consists of two basic components:
The processing table which moves the cutting head over the material and high
intensity pump that generates around 55000 pounds per square inch. The cutting
head is a nozzle with a sapphire crystal orifice through which water is forced
at three times the speed of sound. The movement of this nozzle is determined
by the CAM instructions. A garnet abrasive is fed into the water jet stream
for stronger erosive action.
The many advantages of TFL water cutting services include:-
- A virtually limitless range of materials.
- Most materials up to 350mm thickness.
- Sizes up to 4000mm x 3000mm.
- Materials previously considered as "Unmachinable"
- Close tolerance, repeatable accuracy
Driven by a state of the art CAM process TFL Waterjet cutting offers greater repeatability than other cutting methods and can cut virtually any type of material and with a relatively smooth burr free finish can eliminate secondary processes such as final machining etc.
Minimal kerf width allows for tight nesting and common line cutting of parts
thus achieving savings through scrap reduction. Thin materials can be stacked
for increased output as can the use of the two identical cutting heads.
Our Waterjet cutting service will provide you with outstanding savings, quality
and convenience, assuring on time delivery of the product you need.
The service is backed by the expertise and professionalism gained by TFL in
over twenty years of excellence within various industries.
